What a 40-person services team pays for delivery tools
Tool bills grow one seat at a time, so few firms ever add them up. Here is a worked example for a typical 40-person services team, with list prices checked on 28 October 2026.
The team
The example firm has 40 people on delivery: 22 developers, 8 QA engineers, 5 business analysts, 3 project managers and 2 delivery leads. They use the most common combination we see:
- Jira for stories and sprints, with Xray for test management, for all 40 people.
- Postman Team for shared API collections, for the 12 people who test APIs (8 QA and 4 developers).
The monthly bill
List prices are in US dollars per user a month, billed yearly, as checked on 28 October 2026. Taxes are extra on both sides.
| Tool | Users | Price per user | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jira Standard with Xray | 40 | about $8.91 | about $356 |
| Postman Team | 12 | $19 | $228 |
| Total | about $584 |
At ₹88 to the US dollar (check today's rate), that's roughly ₹51,000 a month, or about ₹6.2 lakh a year, before tax. It's billed in dollars on a card, so forex charges and the work of claiming GST input credit come on top.
Teams that use TestRail instead of Xray pay more. TestRail Professional lists at about $34 to $40 per user a month, so even 10 TestRail seats add $340 to $400 a month.
The cost that isn't on the invoice
The bigger cost is usually time. When stories, test results and API checks live in three tools, someone assembles the release report by hand. At 3 hours a release, 2 releases a month and 5 client projects, that's 30 hours a month of a senior person's time spent copying and pasting.
Ways to cut it
- Audit seats every quarter. Remove people who left and people who haven't logged in for 60 days.
- Give view-only people view-only access. Many clients and managers don't need paid seats.
- Check whether everyone needs every tool. Often only QA needs the test add-on, and only a few people need shared API collections.
- Pay yearly where you're sure of the headcount.
- Consider one tool for all three jobs if the bundle fits how you work.
Where NaatOps fits, honestly
NaatOps puts stories, test management and a shared API workspace in one tool. The Firm Pack is ₹29,999 a month flat for up to 50 users, plus 18% GST, billed in rupees with a GST invoice. For the team above, that's about 40% less than the list-price bill, before counting the time saved on release reports.
It isn't the right choice for everyone. Jira has a far larger marketplace and more mature enterprise features, Postman has deeper API tooling, and TestRail has more advanced test reporting. If you depend on those, compare carefully.
