Briefings, Ask AI and smart import

Get a one-page briefing for leaders, ask questions about your projects, and let AI read spreadsheets and documents.

NaatOps has AI help built in. It works from your live data: issues, sprints, test runs, API checks, releases and timesheets. Clients never see it.

Briefings

Insights › Briefings writes a one-page read for leaders on what is happening below them.

  1. Pick the scope (all projects or one) and the period (7, 14 or 30 days).
  2. Choose Write briefing. It takes about a minute.

A briefing has a health rating, a headline, the key numbers, risks with a next step for each, decisions waiting on someone, a quality verdict and a table of projects with sprint progress against time. The numbers come straight from NaatOps; only the words are written by AI. Issue keys link to the issues.

From a briefing you can Copy as text for an email, Print it, or Ask a follow-up in Ask AI. Owners, admins and managers write briefings; everyone else on the team can read them.

To get one by email every Monday at 9am, turn on Monday briefing email on the Briefings page. Owners, admins and managers receive it.

Ask AI

Ask AI in the sidebar answers questions such as Can we release?, Which tests are failing? or Who is overloaded?. Pick a project under Ask about to keep the answer to one project. Answers link to the issues behind them. Your conversations are private to you.

Ask AI can look into issues and sprints, test cases and runs, API checks and monitors, docs, releases, deployments, budgets and team workload. It only sees what your role can open: a role without Budgets gets no budget answers, private docs stay private, and only people who manage time see others' hours. It never reads API request secrets, headers or bodies.

AI can be wrong, so check the linked issues before acting on an answer.

Smart import

  • Match columns with AI: when you import issues (Settings › Import) or test cases (Tests › Import) from a file with unusual column names, AI matches the columns and statuses for you. You can change any match before importing.
  • Draft from a document: on the backlog (or Draft with AI on the Tests tab), paste requirements, meeting notes or a client email. AI drafts an epic, stories with acceptance criteria, linked test cases and the questions the text leaves open. Untick or edit anything, then create. Created stories carry the ai-drafted label.

Drafts you can send

Three buttons write a first draft that is meant to go out as it is. Each one works from numbers NaatOps calculates, not from the AI's arithmetic, and checks the draft before you see it: no issue that isn't in the data, no filler words such as "leverage" or "seamless", no emoji or exclamation marks. If a check fails, the AI gets one more try; anything still wrong is listed under Check before sending.

  • Sprint summary (Sprints tab, on an active or finished sprint): what was delivered against the commitment, what carries over and why, test results, risks and what comes next, in Markdown for Slack, Teams or email.
  • Client update (on a release): this week's email to your client: what is done, what is next, how testing is going and what you need from them. It leaves out team names, story points, hours, money, issue keys and internal words, and says plainly when the release date is at risk. Add the client's first name for the greeting, then Copy or Open in email.
  • Draft tests (in an issue's Quality section): test cases for the story, at least one for each acceptance criterion plus the negative and edge cases worth running, skipping cases the story already has. Untick any you don't want and add the rest; they are linked to the story.

You can edit any draft before copying it, or choose Write again.

What each role gets

  • Managers, admins and owners: briefings for leadership, plus everything below.
  • Developers, QA and business analysts: Ask AI (try My work for what to pick up next, or Ask AI about this issue in an issue's ⋯ menu), sprint summaries, client updates, drafting stories and tests from documents, and AI column matching.
  • Viewers: Ask AI and reading briefings.

Owners and admins choose who can use AI in Settings › Billing › AI credits › Who can use AI. Custom roles have their own AI assistant tick in Settings › Roles.

Each of these uses AI credits; see AI credits.
